Coordinate door travel with the interior
Sliding doors expose only part of the wardrobe at a time. Align internal partitions and drawers with the opening available after door overlap. Allow for track depth, and check the front’s weight against the selected mechanism, especially where mirrors or glass form part of the door.
Compare the design options
Use these options to discuss the configuration that fits the room and its intended use. Review dimensions and details against the actual material and hardware selected in the drawing.

| Option | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Two sliding leaves | A straightforward two-part wardrobe. | The accessible opening behind each leaf. |
| Three or more leaves | A wide front divided into compartments. | Track arrangement, overlap and drawer access. |
| Mirrored leaf | A mirror integrated into the front. | Mirror construction, weight and fitting compatibility. |
Details to send before quotation
Include clear site photos and any available drawings, then clarify the points below. This makes the quotation scope easier to review and helps identify changes before production approval.
- Measure opening width and height at several points.
- Record track depth separately from internal storage depth.
- Draw each door position against drawers and shelves.
- Specify the sliding system and included closing or damping parts.
Installation and handover checks
Move every leaf through its full travel, then fully open the drawers behind it. Inspect adjustment, stops and clean tracks, and keep the system’s maintenance instructions.
| Item | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Project file | Location, floor, site photos and dimensioned drawings with a revision date. |
| Quotation scope | Identify manufacture, delivery, lifting, installation and work requiring another contractor. |
| Approval | Agree the finish sample, production drawing and item schedule; record changes to price or timing. |
Common questions
Does a sliding wardrobe need less depth?
It reduces swing space in front, but tracks can reduce internal depth. Compare the remaining storage depth with the clothes and hangers you intend to use.
