Check door swing against the room
Hinged doors can expose several compartments, but their swing must fit around beds, bedside tables and adjacent walls. Internal drawers may need a wider opening than ordinary shelf access. Select hinge type and quantity from the actual front dimensions, weight and manufacturer instructions.
Compare the design options
Use these options to discuss the configuration that fits the room and its intended use. Review dimensions and details against the actual material and hardware selected in the drawing.

| Option | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Independent doors | Compartments used separately. | Each door’s swing direction and handle position. |

| Separate upper doors | Seasonal storage above everyday compartments. | Reach and clearance below the ceiling. |
Details to send before quotation
Include clear site photos and any available drawings, then clarify the points below. This makes the quotation scope easier to review and helps identify changes before production approval.
- Record the wardrobe’s distance from the bed and bedside furniture.
- Specify front material, height and any mirror inserts.
- Request a drawing of drawers with the door open.
- List handles, hinges and closing functions in the fittings schedule.
Installation and handover checks
Open doors near walls and furniture and operate internal drawers. Check consistent reveals, hinge adjustment and clear edges, together with the cabinet’s stability and suitable site fixing.
| Item | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Project file | Location, floor, site photos and dimensioned drawings with a revision date. |
| Quotation scope | Identify manufacture, delivery, lifting, installation and work requiring another contractor. |
| Approval | Agree the finish sample, production drawing and item schedule; record changes to price or timing. |
Common questions
Does soft-close fully specify a hinge?
No. Opening angle, door overlay or inset arrangement and front weight also matter. A closing function alone does not establish compatibility with the design.
