Keep the plumbing accessible
The sink bowl, trap and valves determine the usable space beneath a sink. Map them before designing drawers or shelves. Coordinate protection for vulnerable cut edges and preserve an accessible route for leak inspection and repair rather than enclosing connections behind fixed storage.
Compare the design options
Use these options to discuss the configuration that fits the room and its intended use. Review dimensions and details against the actual material and hardware selected in the drawing.

| Option | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Doors with removable shelf | Several service connections needing access. | Shelf removal and reach to all plumbing joints. |
| Shaped drawer | Frequent storage with defined pipe locations. | Drawer travel around the bowl and waste pipe. |
| Removable organisers | Cleaning supplies and easy inspection. | Stable containers without contact with hoses. |
Details to send before quotation
Include clear site photos and any available drawings, then clarify the points below. This makes the quotation scope easier to review and helps identify changes before production approval.
- Provide the sink model, bowl size and mounting method.
- Photograph and locate valves and waste connections.
- Identify any filter or additional equipment inside the cabinet.
- Specify carcass material, edge finish and cut-out protection.
Installation and handover checks
Have plumbing connections tested, then access the valves and remove shelves or organisers. Inspect edges and penetrations after the area has been cleaned and dried.
| Item | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Project file | Location, floor, site photos and dimensioned drawings with a revision date. |
| Quotation scope | Identify manufacture, delivery, lifting, installation and work requiring another contractor. |
| Approval | Agree the finish sample, production drawing and item schedule; record changes to price or timing. |
Common questions
Does moisture-resistant board remove the need to fix leaks?
No. Repair leaks and review the material, edges and installation. Moisture resistance does not make a cabinet suitable for immersion or continuous wetting.
