Size the storage around the footwear
Measure the longest shoes and taller footwear before choosing the arrangement. Consider pair count, access and cleaning. A slim cabinet may use tilt-out fittings, but usable capacity and suitable shoe sizes depend on that mechanism and the cabinet’s actual internal dimensions.
Compare the design options
Use these options to discuss the configuration that fits the room and its intended use. Review dimensions and details against the actual material and hardware selected in the drawing.

| Option | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Straight shelves | Different footwear sizes with sufficient depth. | Shoe length and spacing between shelves. |
| Tilt-out storage | An entrance with limited cabinet depth. | Footwear fit and the mechanism’s movement. |
| Cabinet with bench | An entrance needing seating for shoe changes. | Seat support and separation from storage access. |
Details to send before quotation
Include clear site photos and any available drawings, then clarify the points below. This makes the quotation scope easier to review and helps identify changes before production approval.
- List pair count, long shoes and taller footwear.
- Measure circulation with the entrance door open.
- Specify ventilation and removable shelves for cleaning.
- State whether the unit includes a seat or mirror.
Installation and handover checks
Test the intended footwear in the unit and open storage while someone passes the entrance. Check fixing, cleaning access and edges around the usable space.
| Item | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Project file | Location, floor, site photos and dimensioned drawings with a revision date. |
| Quotation scope | Identify manufacture, delivery, lifting, installation and work requiring another contractor. |
| Approval | Agree the finish sample, production drawing and item schedule; record changes to price or timing. |
Common questions
Is every shoe cabinet top suitable as a seat?
No. The carcass and support must be designed for seating and its expected use. A storage top is not automatically a bench.
